The Department of Microbiology and Cell Biology (MCB) at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, have completed its glorious 75 years of excellence in science in 2016. Starting as a Pharmacology Unit in 1941, MCB has grown into a centre of excellence in biology, nurturing stimulating academic environment for research and training in varied areas of biology, with a caring focus on the biomedical issues in the society.
In its 75th year MCB is organizing a symposium on ‘Biology and Molecular Pathogenesis of Viruses’ in honour of the seminal contributions of Prof.C. Durga Rao in the field of virology.
In the past few years many young investigators have joined the field of virology in different parts of our country. This will be a great opportunity for all the virologists to actively participate, interact and share their thoughts with others in the field.
